Day Five: A trip to Beihai

Wednesday in Nanning was our opportunity to visit Laila's orphanage and the place she was placed by her Mama to be found.

We took the speed train to her town, a beach town in Guangxi province known as Beihai.

We took a trip to Walmart to buy supplies for the orphanage.  We were also very happy to give them all the supplies you guys sent! The asst director said the kids LOVE the gummy vitamins. :)

We weren't allowed to go into the orphanage but the asst director walked us around the grounds and we were able to talk about how our girl was in the orphanage vs what she had been like since we got her. It was very insightful

And we were glad we had the opportunity to visit.

We also got a chance to say goodbye to one of her nannies. She was very nervous and unsure but posed for a picture.

Next we went to see where she was left to be found.  It was a beautiful place & we are so glad we have that history for her one day when she's older.

It was a long & tiring day!  We are so blessed to have this little one with us!! We were told she was the only child with thal in her orphanage so we were very glad God put me in just the right place to bring her home as our daughter where she will get all the medical care she needs.

Helping the Orphanages!! WE can do it!!

Traveling to China provides a unique opportunity for us.  It gives us a chance to visit an orphanage and offer our assistance at some group foster homes ran by charities. 

It also allows us to take over supplies to help care for the children.

And that is EXACTLY what we plan to do, with the help of ALL OF YOU!!!

That's right, it's your chance to provide something that will directly impact the health & well being of the sweet ones who wait for families, and for the older children who are no longer eligible for adoption.

What do they need??? Well, EVERYTHING!!!

We need children's medicine, vitamins, bandaids, toothbrushes, toothpaste, diaper rash cream, and for those of you who might know what I'm talking about- cleft bottles!!

You donate it, we'll take it over and present it to the orphanages in need.

Tell your friends at work, your facebook friends, your neighbor!! If you have time to send a package our way via priority mail- great!!  If you don't, but want to help, you can click on my paypal link to donate.  I guarantee that if you donate it for orphanage supplies, that's EXACTLY where it will go!

96!!!

Beihai is a small beach town in Guangxi Province in southwestern China.

Yep, that's the final total for the shirt fundraiser...

We've sold 96 shirts/sweatshirts to raise money for Beihai Social Welfare Institute!!  I haven't had a chance to add up how much money that will be cause I still have to ship the shirts once they come in, but I think it's over $500 raised for the orphanage donation!!!

Thank you ALL who decided to buy a shirt and help an orphan like our sweet Laila!!!  You guys seriously rock!!!

We did purchase a few extra shirts, so when I get everything shipped out I'll post the leftover sizes & colors for anyone who never got a chance but would still like one.

THANK YOU for helping the children in this orphanage!!  And for those of you who requested to donate money rather than buying a shirt, we will have a website up soon that allows you to make a tax deductible donation.
